The Perth I'm Falling For...

I think I'm finally starting to understand why people fall in love with Perth.

And I don't think it's necessarily one big thing. It's the little things.

It's a Saturday morning coffee somewhere beautiful, with nowhere

to be and no real reason to rush.

It's the ocean.

It's that incredible light at the end of the day.

It's driving home on a completely ordinary Tuesday and seeing a sunset that makes you stop and think, bloody hell, I live here.

And then there's the coffee.

A lot of coffee.

I'm not even going to pretend I have a sensible relationship with it. I basically spend my salary on coffee.

I think when you move somewhere new, you slowly start collecting your own little favourites:

A coffee shop you keep going back to.

A beach you love.

A walk that becomes part of your routine.

A restaurant you take everyone to.

A place you go when you need a bit of time to yourself.

A spot you accidentally discover and immediately want to tell everyone about.

And without really noticing, those places start to become your landmarks.

They're the things that make a new city feel less like somewhere you're living and more like somewhere that's yours.

Three years in and I'm still discovering mine.

And I love that.

There's still so much of Perth I haven't seen. So many places I haven't found, coffees I haven't tried and sunsets I haven't stopped to watch yet.

I think that's probably one of the best things about moving somewhere completely new.

You get to discover it all over again.
